Jacek Hałas


Born in 1965 in Poland. Musician, singer, dancer, composer, performer, graduate of the Academy of Fine Art. As musician spent years on exploring the most interesting and archaic forms of dance, music and craft of Eastern Europe. Cofounder of the best polish folk bands, art & theater projects, is also involved in traditions of wandering singers, educational activities, deals with experimental music and composes for theater and film. As ‘Nomads of the Culture’ Halas family (Jacek, Alicja & four kids) travel across Europe with their own Yurt presenting the results of their artistic work, family theater and projects in cooperation with artist from the whole world. Lessons at the source - at village masters - supplemented with thorough studies of ethnographic archives, constant musical activity, experience of contemporary art and restless mind allow his Art to provide performance that is vivid, interactive and attractive to modern viewer. Favorite instruments: vocal, accordion, hurdy-gurdy, jaw's harp, shepherds flutes, folk percussion, preparing piano, dance.
